Kids in the Kitchen

If I had to choose a different profession it would have something to do with cooking! I love being in the kitchen. All of my children know how to cook, and I think it is so important to get children helping in the kitchen at an early age. There is a lot they can help do!

I was happy to hear that all of the children that were here today have helped in the kitchen! When children help prepare the meals they are more likely to try new things. We read the book The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! It is a silly book with a good message about sharing. This class prefers ketchup on their hot dogs instead of mustard 4 to 2. We made fizzy sidewalk chalk “Ketchup and Mustard” http://kidsactivitiesblog.com/5509/fizzing-sidewalk-paint and squirted/sprayed it with vinegar. We also painted a hotdog with “ketchup and mustard” and learned that yellow and red make orange! The children helped make goulash for lunch. We will be putting together a cookbook with all of the recipes the children help make this week.
