Today we read the book Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.   This is a great book about apples.  The family goes to an apple orchard and they are picking apples for different things..  Dad wants to make an apple pie, mom wants to make crafts, brother is wanting his to eat for a snack, and sister  is picking apples for a surprise.  Apples, Apples, Apples explains the lifecycle of an apple tree, shows different types of apples, and has a few ideas of different things you can do with apples.  One of the children guessed what the sisters surprise was after the recipe was given… it was applesauce.   We had an apple taste test red and green tied with 4 votes a piece and yellow had 1 vote.  We made a chart by gluing a shape the same color as your favorite apple in the correct line.  We painted with apples using red, yellow, and green paint.  We also made more grandparent art, if you haven’t yet done so, please send in grandparent addresses ASAP.  The lifecycle of an apple tree sequence was added to the Science Center for children to put the pictures in order.  Dress-Up was the most popular area in the classroom today :o)
