The reason my blog posts aren’t uploading is because I used up all my space again!! I have already upgraded once and can’t afford to do it again. So instead of deleting posts and pictures I’ve created a new blog.
We made lights using glitter paint and plastic spoons! We also, decorated paper Christmas trees with our scrap box, paper cutters, scissors, glue and markers.
Spidey brought Elf Donuts… the kiddos said they were yummy!
Yesterday I was not feeling well and unable to make it to school, but Big Emilea posted some pictures from their day on our Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/plaacademy
Today- Spidey is back from the North Pole!
We made a stamp pad string of lights using our fingerprints. Calendars went home today, please look these over closely we have some fun events scheduled for the month. A pajama day, party with book exchange, a parent’s night out, and our book orders are due by the end of the night Monday.
We made one more Thankful list.
We examined cranberries. Do you think they will sink or float? We made a chart and 9 thought they would sink, 6 guessed they would float. We then went to the tables and put them in a bowl of water. They do float and when cut open you can see air pockets with tiny seeds. We added them to a pan with 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and boiled gently for 10 mins. Yummy cranberry sauce! We also made 2 pumpkin pies for snack time! They were so good. The kiddos helped measure, crack eggs and stir. It was a fun day of cooking and eating!! Thank you to the families that were able to join us for lunch and the mom that was able to come back for pie!!
I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!! I am very grateful for all of our preschool families… past, present and future! I know without all of you PLA would still be a dream! I am thankful for my family, my mom and daughter for being a part of our PLA craziness, and I am thankful to be a Grandma! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! See you Monday!!
Today we read about the very first Thanksgiving. We learned about the Mayflower and the Wampanoag Indians that helped the pilgrims get through the first hard winter at Plymouth Plantation. We made Native American headbands at table time. We also turned heavy cream into butter for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.
REMINDER: Our Thanksgiving Dinner is from 11:15 – noon tomorrow and PLA will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week for our Thanksgiving break.
We tried the buttermilk after the cream and butter separated. Some of the kiddos thought it was very yummy!
I can not find a link to our songs… I can find similar versions but not the ones I learned. So, here is how we sing The Cranberry Rolled Away:
The cranberry rolled away before Thanksgiving day said they would make a sauce out of me if I should stay.
The potato rolled away before Thanksgiving day said they would make mashed potatoes out of me if I should stay.
The pumpkin rolled away before Thanksgiving day said they would make a pie out of me if I should stay.
The turkey rolled away before Thanksgiving day said they would make roast turkey out of me if I should stay.
There are hand motions they do with the song starting small and getting big. Start singing it and I am sure they will show you how! 😉
My plan was to let them decorate a white piece of construction paper to cut out and make feathers for a turkey… they, as always, plan much better than me! Most of them painted a turkey or drew something they were thankful for so, I will not be cutting them and they can explain their beautiful artwork to you! We made a new thankful list on the white board and we celebrated a birthday. Happy Birthday T and thanks for sharing the yummy cupcakes!!
J reading a book to her friends!
REMINDER: Thanksgiving Dinner Tuesday 11:15 – noon. There will be plenty if any parents would like to join us, but please let me know you are coming! No School Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for Thanksgiving break.
We made handprint turkeys and made a thankful leaf to put on our tree. We said goodbye to one of our friends today… we want to wish his family well on their new adventure. We will miss you!!
